Big Butt must really mean BIG BUT...cooked well BUT...no flavor. Big Butt was mediocre at best. Everything was pretty bland. My husband and I got the full slab of ribs, 1/2 lb pork and 1/2 lb brisket with baked beans, mashed taters, and Mac n' cheese. All of it was mediocre. I think the mashed potatoes were the best thing. They tasted more like Mac n cheese than the Mac did. Kraft makes better Mac n cheese. The beans taste like they are straight from the can. So let's get to the meat of the story (pun intended), the meat was all well cooked, I'll give them that. Smokey flavor but very bland, they rely heavily on their sauce. The sauce, we got the original, was fine (fine means fine, not great not bad but it will do it was sauce and we needed it for flavor). At least it wasn't Sweet Baby Rays like Basement BBQ in CP, but it doesn't make it good BBQ. The brisket was VERY fatty, and we gave most of it to our dogs. The pork was OK once you added the BBQ sauce. So, all in all we ate, we are full, we won't be back. The search for good BBQ in NWI continues...

Disclaimer, I've only been here for lunch. Butt, the sandwich combo is excellent. Lots of pork and the bun is tasty and soft. They give you the option of using different sauces-all delicious. The service is attentive and friendly. I'll be back !

Great pizza. The Carlo's Special is my favorite. Good BBQ. Corned Beef the best. Friendly service. I usually stop here a couple of times a month on the way home from work and order to go. Highly recommended.

Just came home from vacation in Nashville and was craving barbeque. Obviously this place isn't exactly on the same level but our food was delicious. Slider sampler with pulled pork, smoked chicken and smoked turkey...much better than I expected. I used to come here and get pizza puffs when it was still Carlo's...not sure why they decided to do the barbeque thing but they're pretty good at it. Sauces are on point. The chicken was a bit dry but still okay. 10 bucks for 3 good sized sliders and yummy fries. If you live in the area, this is a place you need to check out. Also, the name...I'll stop anywhere that advertises big butts.

We ordered the sliders and the chicken and the beef brisket were lunch meat and it was absolutely disgusting! I was expecting real meat for $38 dollars!

Carlo's Pizza has expanded to become two businesses in one location. While maintaining their current pizza menu, they have expanded to include a variety of barbeque offerings. We had the family pack #2, which was supposed to include 1 lb of brisket, 1 lb of pulled pork, 3 sides, and 3 Hawaiian rolls. I had originally asked for all brisket, but when i was told it would be a $4 up-charge, I decided to leave the order as original and figured it would be a great way to sample both the brisket and pork. When I got home, all I had was 2 lbs of brisket. We also ordered baked beans, mashed potatoes, and Johnny's cracked corn as our sides. Overall, I'm not a brisket fan, but it was extremely good. Nice taste, tender, with no fat. I do wish I could have tried the pork...for another time. The beans and corn were standard fare. The mashed potatoes were skin on and also very good. I thought the sides could have been larger to compliment the amount of meat you get and the number of people supposedly served. Also, the wait for the meal was extremely long...like 40 minutes. I showed up at the place and ordered it to go, so I had to wait while it was prepared. I will chalk it up to BBQ being a new offering at the location and the fact that they are still covering the pizza business as well. Finally, I'm not a fan of BBQ on Hawaiian rolls so I wish they would offer a few other alternatives. And, given the fact that they say 2 lbs of meat should comfortably serve 4-6 people, 3 rolls does not cover the amount of people supposedly served. For a $35 meal, I'm quite sure the impact of doubling the amount of rolls would be minimal. Overall, this was a good meal. BBQ is not cheap in this area and I thought, other than the size of the sides, that it was money well spent in an area that seems to be lacking depth when it comes to BBQ. We will return again to try other offerings and hope that some of these minor issues will be resolved.
